Homeless man charged with hate crime in attack on transgender woman

A homeless man has been arrested after he allegedly pushed a transgender woman onto the subway tracks in Greenwich Village earlier this week. Police said Saturday he had been charged with second-degree attempted murder as a hate crime.

Police identified the man as 32-year-old Rolan Reid. When they made the arrest at the Canal Street station on Saturday, he threatened them, “I’m going to throw you guys onto the tracks,".
