(The Middle East) - Leishmaniasis is a terrible skin disease present in Middle East countries bordering the Mediterranean. Recently the Jerusalem Post reported on it, saying (The Jerusalem Post):

"The disease, which is spread by sandflies, is quickly spreading, thanks to pollution and poor hygiene conditions ...jihadi fighters are refusing medical treatment which has led to more outbreaks. Dubbed "Rose of Jericho," the infection appears as red sores on the skin. [If untreated] the infection can damage the liver and spleen ...the sores can cause permanent, ugly scars if untreated."
According to the World Health Organization, if the disease is not treated, the fatality rate in developing countries can be as high as 100% within two years.
