is settling into his new home, in Limerick, as a Masters student at the . The Foundation (SCL) aims to raise aspirations of young people through sport and academic excellence on both sides of the Atlantic. As a Victory Scholar, Jonathan Nelson represents not only his ‘Alma Mater’ of but his family, community and the ATLANTIC 10 League who has partnered with SCL to provide this worthy opportunity.

Nelson makes the leap across the Atlantic towards mentoring young people throughout the community of Limerick working for SCL in an aim to change lives of disadvantaged and disengaged young people by building self-confidence and inspiring a future generation in Ireland.

“I realise how privileged I have been to be able to play the sport I love and gain so many valuable lessons and experiences along the way. It is an honour to be the only soccer Victory Scholar and I am learning so much already about the game through coaching and playing”, expressed Nelson.

and Co-Founder designed the foundations of the Victory Scholarship program at the supported by SCL Co-Founder Mark Marais of . The Victory program gives Nelson the opportunity to earn his Masters at the as well as furthering his education, Nelson will undertake extensive community work on the ground representing SCL in the local community of Limerick mentoring young people who will learn the importance of aspiring to do well on the court as well as in the classroom. Nelson will also continue his soccer career getting the opportunity to represent the University of Limerick, at college level, and play for Limerick Football Club.
